#T5W Favorite Villains

#T5W

Top 5 Wednesday is a Book Meme hosted by Samantha on Goodreads Groups.  If you're interested in joining the group, and/or find out what the other weekly topics are, click here.

This week, our #T5W prompt is #FavoriteVillains, which happens to be a topic I really enjoy!  I mean, villains are the best and they keep us entertained.  Some of my favorite villains are the ones I also love (even though I don't necessarily like to say it out loud)!

Lestat de Lioncourt from Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles is a typical antihero, sometimes villain...
I can't help but love the Brat Prince.

President Alma Coin from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Forget President Snow - President Alma Coin, from District 13 is the ultimate villain in this series.

Legend from the Caraval series by Stephanie Garber
Legend says Caraval is not just a game...why would you want to play then?

Hector Bowen (Prospero the Enchanter) from The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
Prospero is the real deal, I mean, what kind of a monster do you have to be in order to put your own daughter on a challenge where only 1 person can survive?

King Saran from Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
I loved Children of Blood and Bone and I actually can't wait to see who they will cast as King Saran when they make the movie.

What about you?
Who are your Favorite Villains?

  2. oooh good picks! I haven't read a few of these but I've been meaning to. Is it bad that I tend to love the villains much more than the protagonists most of the time? ;)

  3. Great choices! Love Lestat! I haven't read the sequels to The Hunger Games yet, so will have to find out more about Coin. Children of Blood and Bone is on my TBR and the rest probably should be too!

  4. I totally agree that President Coin is a villain, but President Snow will always be higher on my list. Great list of villains!

  6. I always enjoy a good anti-hero and I love a book where the good guy defies his morals. You find this often in Detective novels.

    1. My favorite Harry Potter "villain" is Severus Snape, but we were asked not to use Harry Potter characters on this meme :-(

  9. I love the antagonists and shady characters than the leads in most books. I mean they make or break the story, don't they? I love your list.

  11. Oh man, my favourite quote from The night Circus is Hector: " You deceitful little slut!" - it's awful that's how he speaks to his daughter and everything, not that she cares, but it came so out of nowhere I wasn't expecting it and it made me laugh. Great post, interesting choices!
